These terms cover how you may use izon.media. By reading the site, creating an account or commenting, you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the site.
Who publishes IZON
izon.media is published by IZON Media Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17217342), whose registered office is at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “IZON” mean IZON Media Ltd, and “you” means anyone using the site.
General enquiries: hello@izon.media.
Using the site
You may read IZON, link to it, and quote short extracts with credit and a link. Beyond that, you may not republish, redistribute or systematically copy our journalism without written permission.
You must not:
- scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site, or use it to train a machine learning model, without our written permission
- attempt to gain access to any part of the site, server or database you are not authorised to reach
- interfere with the site’s operation, security or availability
- use the site for anything unlawful, or in a way that harms another user
We may suspend or remove access if you do any of these.
Accounts
An IZON account is free and personal to you. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for anything done through your account. Tell us promptly at hello@izon.media if you think someone else has access.
You must give accurate details when signing up, and you must be at least 16 years old.
You can close your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why.
Closing your account
If you close your account, or we close it, your feed settings, followed topics and saved stories are deleted. Comments you have already posted normally stay on the story, because removing one side of a published conversation makes the rest of it unreadable. If you want your comments removed as well, ask us and we will consider it.
Details of how long we keep what, and your rights over your personal data, are in the Privacy Policy.
Comments and contributions
Comments are open to signed-in members. When you post a comment you keep ownership of what you wrote, but you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display it on IZON and in our newsletters.
Keep comments useful. Challenge the reporting rather than the person, and add evidence where you can. We remove comments that are unlawful, defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, spam, or that publish someone’s private information. We are not obliged to moderate every comment, and comments are the view of whoever wrote them rather than of IZON.
Comments: reporting unlawful content
Comments are posted by readers, not by IZON, and we do not check every one before it appears. If you believe a comment is defamatory, harassing, infringes your rights, or is otherwise unlawful, tell us at hello@izon.media.
Please include the story it appears on, enough detail to identify the comment, what specifically is unlawful about it, and your name and a contact address. If your complaint is about a defamatory statement, tell us whether you are able to identify the person who posted it.
On receiving a complaint that meets those requirements we will act promptly: we will contact the commenter where we can, and we will remove, or ask them to amend, anything we conclude is unlawful. We will keep you informed of the outcome.
Our journalism
We work to report accurately and fairly. Even so, the site is provided on an “as is” basis and we make no guarantee that everything on it is complete, current or error-free.
Nothing on IZON is investment advice, legal advice or professional advice of any kind. Stories about funding rounds, valuations and company performance are journalism, not a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Do your own diligence and take proper advice before making a decision.
If we get something wrong, tell us at hello@izon.media. We correct errors of fact and note significant corrections on the story.
Complaints about our journalism
If you think a story of ours is inaccurate, unfair, or intrudes on someone’s privacy, we want to hear about it and we will deal with it properly.
Email hello@izon.media with the headline and date of the story, the specific passage you are complaining about, what you say is wrong or unfair, and any evidence you have. Please tell us whether you are the person written about or acting on their behalf.
What happens then:
- We acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days.
- We investigate and give you a substantive response within 28 days. If it is going to take longer, we tell you why and when to expect an answer.
- If we got a fact wrong, we correct it, mark the correction on the story, and where the error was significant we say so with due prominence.
- If we do not uphold your complaint, we explain our reasoning.
Complaints are handled by the editor. If your complaint is about the editor, ask for it to be escalated and it will be reviewed by someone else.
Right of reply and removal requests
If you are named or identifiable in a story and believe it is wrong, unfair, or out of date, you can ask us to put your side, correct it, update it, or take it down. Email hello@izon.media and set out what you are asking for and why.
We will consider every request seriously and answer it. We will not remove accurate reporting that is in the public interest simply because its subject would prefer it were not published, and we will say so plainly rather than leaving you waiting. Where a story has become materially out of date, we would rather update it than delete it, so the record stays intact.
Advertising and sponsorship
IZON carries advertising. Advertisements and any sponsored content are labelled as such. Editorial decisions are made independently of advertisers, and buying advertising does not buy coverage or influence over it.
We are not responsible for the content of any advertiser’s own website or product.
Newsletters
Newsletter subscription is optional and separate from your account. You confirm your subscription by email, and every issue carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately. We may change the format, frequency or name of a newsletter, or stop publishing it.
Links to other sites
We link out constantly, because that is how reporting works. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or what they do with your data.
Intellectual property
All content on IZON, including articles, photography, video, the IZON name and the IZON logo, is owned by IZON Media Ltd or used under licence. The IZON name and mark may not be used without written permission.
Copyright complaints and counter-notice
If you believe material on IZON infringes your copyright, email hello@izon.media identifying the work, where it appears on IZON, and your basis for claiming the rights. We will look into it promptly and remove or take down anything we agree infringes.
If we remove something you posted and you believe that was wrong, you can tell us. Email the same address explaining why you say the material was lawful, for example that you hold the rights, that you had a licence, or that the use was fair dealing for reporting, criticism or review. We will consider your response and restore the material if we agree.
Availability
We aim to keep IZON available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site, including features that are currently free, and we may do so without notice where the reason is urgent.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site. If you are using IZON for business purposes, this matters: you accept that the site is an information source and not a substitute for your own judgement.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page shows when they last changed. If a change materially affects account holders we will tell you by email rather than quietly editing the page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
